In August 2008, Leila Antakly, our Sunflower Children of Colombia Coordinator, returned to Cali to visit Casita de Belen, a Sunflower-sponsored home for orphaned and other disadvantaged children.

Here is Leila's report:
“My second trip to Casita de Belen was exciting because I was able to see how the children had grown since my last trip this past Christmas. When I arrived, the kids were playing in the playground. The kids made me drawings and gave me lots of warm hugs. They gave me a necklace to bring to Helena, whom they are very eager to meet. The highlight was bringing them copies of the Sunflower Magazine and showing some of the children their photos, which made them feel special and cared for."
"I spoke to most of the caretakers and nurses and met two of the administrative staff. They were very eager to talk and ask questions about Sunflower. I was given a detailed tour, during which I was shown their new kitchen facility and chapel. I spent every day of my trip at Casita and established a close bond with one girl in particular named Michelle, who is almost 2 years old. She was the baby I met during Christmas who stole my heart."
